1.0 Overview

This is a high trust, self-managing facility established by the Ngāti Kuri Trust Board.

Our vision is to provide a sanctuary for our iwi and the opportunity to take refuge and reconnect to our whenua in a very significant area that our tupuna occupied as an original Pā Kāinga space.

Our values are to respect, honour and enjoy the facilities provided, the whenua that surrounds you and the whānau that you stay alongside.

Stand proud for your iwi, uphold the vision and values set for this taonga that you have been entrusted with.

2. Facilities

There are 6 1-bedroom whare available, 2 of which are accessible, and 1 of which has a fully accessible shower.

2.1 Facility is to be utilised for private whānau bookings ONLY.

2.2 Only named whānau may occupy whare at any time.

2.3 This space is not to be used for large social events, celebrations, wānanga and gatherings.

2.4 Keep all resources in whare (kitchenware, furniture and linen etc.)

2.5 Report all damage to whare or breakages of resources to Management.

3. Bookings

Bookings can be made via the online portal, which will be provided to eligible guests.

3.1   Bookings are subject to availability and Management reserves the right to decline any booking without reason.

3.2   Bookings must be made under the name of the eligible guest, who will be responsible for adherence to these terms and conditions and liable for any damage caused.

3.3   Priority will be given to guests who require accommodation for the following reasons:

- Emergency accommodation

- Respite relief

- Temporary housing

- Hauora/Health

3.4   A minimum stay of 12 consecutive nights applies.

3.5   The guest will be required to provide valid credit card details to secure the booking.

3.6   Check in is available from 2pm on the day of arrival and check out must be made by 10 am on the day of departure.         

4. Conduct

Please be aware of the following guidelines for guest conduct.

Behaviour which is considered unacceptable by Management (nudity, violence, excessive noise, failure to follow guidelines etc.) may result in removal of all occupants.

Serious misconduct will be reported to the police.

4.1   No alcohol, smoking or vaping is permitted on the premises or grounds.

4.2   Health and safety

- Children are to be supervised at all times, especially around water.

- Please observe the 10 kmph speed limit within the camp and parking areas.

- Pay attention to signage and the facilities managers instructions.

4.2   Noise and equipment

- Please respect and be considerate of other whānau and their personal space.

- Between 10 pm and 7 am, noise levels must be kept to a minimum.

 4.3    Animals

- No dogs or other domestic animals are permitted in the camp or reserve.

- This includes cats and caged birds; registered guide dogs are the only exception.

4.4   Rubbish and Recycling

- A “rubbish in, rubbish out” policy applies.

- All rubbish must be removed from site on your departure.

4.5   Environmental

- Please conserve water, ensure the outside tap handle is returned to the inside of the cabin.

- Please conserve power as operated by solar (do not leave the heater or air conditioner running unnecessarily).

- All vegetation in the reserve is protected.

- Sand dunes are sensitive natural areas. Please minimise your impact on these areas by using walking tracks at all times to avoid disturbance.

5. Amenities

The following equipment IS provided:

- Full kitchen: fridge, freezer, microwave and stove top

- Queen bed with all linen supplied

- Foldout double sofa bed with all linen supplied

- Smart TV and internet access

- Toilet and shower facilities,

- Washer and dryer, clothesline with pegs

- Bathroom towels, hand towels and flannel

- Cleaning products and equipment

The following equipment IS NOT provided:

- All food (this must be removed on departure)

- All personal toiletries

- Beach towels

- Washing powder for front loader

- Bug spray, fly spray, sunscreen

6. Cleaning and Departure

6.1  All cleaning products and equipment is provided and should remain in whare on departure.

6.2  A post-departure cleaning checklist is provided. Please complete this before check-out.

7. Damages and Liability

7.1 Ngāti Kuri Trust Board takes no responsibility for guests’ personal items during their stay.

7.2 The named guest is responsible for any damages or loss caused by themselves, or other named or unnamed guests.

7.3 The guest may be charged for damages, loss or cleaning as follows:

- Up to $1,500 for missing equipment or furnishings

- Up to $1,000 for damages to whare or provided equipment

- Up to $500 for cleaning not completed by guest

8. Privacy and use of information

Ngāti Kuri Trust Board Inc. only collects information necessary to approve your application to stay at Te Waeroa. This information remains confidential and no personal or identifying information is shared with any other persons.
